Here we have a free lick taken from the “Dragon’s Fury” solo study, based around the neo-classical rock/metal style influenced by Yngwie Malmsteen, Nicolo Paganini, J.S Bach, Jimi Hendrix, Uli Jon Roth and Ritchie Blackmore
This is the lesson covering my song called An Old Modern Time from my solo album Let It Out, released in 2006. It's a cool Neoclassic kind a piece with lot of alternate picking, string skipping, sweeping, few legato licks etc.
This song is great example of rhythmic phrasing in a standard punk rock song. The drums are quite tasteful, and the guitars use various rhythms of eighth and sixteenth note values.
This lick is about rhythm displacement, we have phrases starting on 1st beat, 2nd beat and even after 16th pause so it creates pretty interesting effect time wise.
The lick here is a Fusion lick that makes use of several techniques over a G Minor backing track. The main techniques used include economy picking and legato.
