This lick is taken from my lesson “Extended pentatonic licks”. It's in the key of Em and is in the style of Paul Gilbert, featuring combined picking and legato and using extended pentatonic shapes.
In this classical tapping etude lesson we will study string skipping tapping arpeggios. We will use the large jumps between the strings and improve stretching our fingers on the left hand. You will learn 16 different ways to play arpeggios on the different types of chords.
'Skippy' is a short original piece that covers the technique most notably fashioned by Paul Gilbert; string skipping. Highlighting the major, minor and diminished shapes whilst incorporating hybrid picking to provide an easier route to achieving high speed and fluency.
"Goodbye" covers a 20 bar solo over a punk/rock progression. The first aim of demonstration is some simple, yet effective pentatonic ideas and extra note choice. Another highlight is how to build your solo through "gears", building up to the fast flashy stuff, which is essential for a coherent & interesting structure
