La Gitane is a gypsy jazz waltz written by Paul “Tchan Tchou” Vidal (the master of gypsy jazz waltz). He was the most respected musician of the “Southern” school of Gypsy guitar playing. Unlike Django who was a Manouche or Sinti Gypsy, Tchan Tchou was from the Gitane tribe which has roots in Spain.

This lesson should help you improve your 3/4 time feel, gypsy picking technique and approach to scales and arpeggios with the useful licks that you can find in this masterpiece.

I have divided the parts in 11 slow/fast videos showing each section separately.

The form (as in the slow fast videos) is // A / A / B / C / D / E part1 C part2/ A part1 + A (ending)//

All the notes of the song played with a SWING FEEL!!!

Good luck practicing and feel free to leave a comment.

Have fun!
