Welcome to the Chop Shop!

This series will be free guitar tuition covering short licks in a rock/fusion type setting. Rather than concentrate on specific techniques I’ve decided to form these lessons out of phrases and patterns that come out naturally in my practice and writing. Influenced by a range of musicians, expect to see economy picking, hybrid picking, legato, tapping and extended chords.

This second lick is B minor based and uses extended arpeggios as melodic pathways to travel around the neck. I find this method very effective for improvising and using planned pathways to navigate around in any key.

Note: My guitar is tuned down a half step to Eb for all the Chop Shop licks but all the theory notes will be from the perspective of standard tuning.
