Rossel Guitars - Koblenz (Germany)

A week ago, a friend from Germany asked me to help him with a recording project. He asked me to just turn up. I didn’t even have to bring my guitar with me, as “everything will be provided”. He knew a local guitar shop whose owner was happy to lend me a couple of guitars to use on the project. Without any expectation we went to that shop to try some guitars and boy, oh boy... was there a surprise waiting...

How to Boost Your Credibility as a Guitar Teacher - Social Proof

When we receive information, we tend to filter it rapidly and make a snap judgement on whether we should trust it or not. The same think applies to your online guitar courses. Social proof is the most powerful way to trigger people's trust. What is the first impression your potential students receive?

Glitch Effect Guitar Tutorial - Sci-Fi your Guitar.

In recent years we’ve seen a heavier influx of electronic music flavors influencing genres of rock and metal. Now that we’re able to cross-pollinate effects onto our guitars that would otherwise be exclusive to drums or synthesizers, it opens up a wider range of possibilities for a much more interesting musical journey. For this tutorial I’m going to show how to get a popular “glitch” or “stutter” type effect on your guitar tracks. This effect can of course be used on any instrument. The plugin that we will be using for the glitch effect is a free plugin called DBlue Glitch.

How to be a successful guitar instructor on the L4g Marketplace - The definitive guide

So, if you want to be an instructor on Live4guitar Marketplace – BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING ELSE – please carefully read the comprehensive guide below so that you understand exactly what you should and should not be doing. To put it bluntly, we keep receiving applications, lessons and videos from people that want to be instructors which do not meet our requirements. We have tried to be as clear as possible in our instructions but it seems that many are not reading the instructions properly. The requirements are specific and must be followed because we don’t want you to waste your time putting together a lesson that we can’t use. We don’t really want our time wasted either.

Les Paul - The Man who Changed it All
Les Paul was a genius of the mad scientist variety; and while he was not the first man to tinker around with guitar and amp to make the heavenly fusion of steel and electricity that we so lavish today, his success in the field of innovation crowned him as the father of the Gibson Les Paul, effectively making him the granddaddy of rock and roll.

Valve/Tube Amps

Valve/Tube Amps

The sound of the tube amp was always synonymous with a rock guitar tone. It is said that the sound of the tube amp is "warmer" compared to solid state amps like transistor or mosfet. The saturation of the tube increases gradually with the increase of the volume, this is something that doesn't happen with solid state amps, which by the way weren't even designed to produce distortion. In solid state amps the distortion is simulated with electronic circuits.

Omis Guitar Fest 2012
The 3rd Omis Guitar Festival is upon us. Following the success of two previous events, the organisers are promising that this year’s festival will be bigger and better. They even secured the patronage of none other but the president of Croatia, Mr Ivo Josipovic.

Marketplace update - Instructors accounts and lesson prices

It’s been more than a year since we launched the guitar lessons marketplace. We created a platform where anyone who is able to produce quality guitar lessons can set up a stall, offering benefits of their skill and wisdom to a guitar knowledge seeking public.

We set up a rigid structure for the standard of guitar lessons to insure high quality of instructional material and low cost for the users.

The take up for a position of instructor seemed to be greater than the ability to produce lessons.

In order to avoid overcrowding of our data base we have been obliged to amend the paragraph 14 of our terms and conditions.
