Are you ready to rock? Here we are, ready to launch the 5th Live4guitar competition. This time we have something more interesting and more challenging for you with some great prizes. Ever heard of Muris Varajic? Know his amazing technique? Now it's your turn to give it a go.

The rules

(PLEASE READ CAREFULLY)

The Competition is open to everyone
Go to Muris' lesson page on our Marketplace and choose the lesson to play - you can only choose 1 of 3 available lessons
You don't need to purchase lessons. Our main video is free and backing tracks are provided. However, if you think you can't learn it from the main video, feel free to buy it and you will get tabs, slow backing tracks, close up videos slowed down, lesson explanation etc...
Record your video take over one of the 3 backing tracks of your choice and upload it to your YouTube channel
Video should be recorded with a decent picture quality
Complete upper body (face and both hands) must be clearly visible on the video
The sound source can be from a camera microphone or a DAW
Make sure that your video and audio are in perfect sync. If we notice that the take was edited after recording, we will disqualify it immediately
Subscribe to our YouTube channel and leave video response with your take (you do need to subscribe)
Join our forum and follow updates and news about the competition
Judges will be announced on the forum and they will pick 3 best takes which will be published on L4g website
The Competition closes on Tuesday - 31st May 2011
We will contact the winners via our forum to take their details for shipping

Probably much less than before but it's worth giving it a try. That "country" thing is not that fast but a great exercise if you've never been into that style of playing. Last competitions were about playing anything you wanted. This time it's a real challenge for advanced players. I hope 15-20 people will give it a shot. Some people on youtube think it's a marketing trick but it's really not. We're trying to make something more out of these competitions. That's why the prizes are more expensive. I see no point of leaving a backing track of 3 chords and everybody sticks to minor pentatonic and some tapping. There were some great entries before and I believe that half of those people can play any of these 3 pieces. Why not give it a try? Imagine if Joe Satriani left his backing of "Surfing with the alien" and said: "I am giving my signature guitar for the one who plays my song the best". I believe there would be 1000 entries. Why should this be different? It's Muris Varajic who can play anything that Joe can. We should start a new topic on the forum about how to make L4g competition even more interesting next time. For example, who can design the best guitar and the winner gets his creation hand made. How about that?

totally agree hard rockin man...this is the most REAL guitar competition in my opinion( if i have time ( i work everyday and have 1 or 2 hours for guitar per day if so) i'll try maybe that country thing) cause everybody shuold play exactly this and let's see who will do it better with less mistakes.that is way more complicated than just improvising on backing tracks and judges also will must be less subjective and more objective ...

suggestion - first three places i would divide between different songs ( if it would be possible)(maybe some sort of different judging or so)

I have been studying the song "An Old ModernTime". For me it is very fast in normal time. But I think the 31st will be ready. :D

Hehe, now thats what I call a competition. It shall be very interesting to see if someone can come close to Muris takes. Somehow the ole' Bumble Bee seems like a friend to me when i watch this... *lol*

Don't think the transformer is the problem, usually a bad transformer will blow up the HT fuse.
Yes, set the amp to 8 ohm when using 2 16 ohm cabs.

so far ive purchased two irigs. they seem to not work. when i go to the settings in amplitube it say INPUT:none. i have active emgs in my ibanez rg370dx. Could the pickups be the problem?
